In this article I am going to tell you how you can “do Keto” in a healthy and sustainable way.

What is Keto?

The Ketogenic “Keto” diet is a high-fat, adequate-protein, and low-carbohydrate diet.

Many people try this type of diet because when your body is in ketosis, it burns fat rather than carbohydrates.

Right out of the gate, I want you to keep in mind that this type of diet is short term. Carbs are a source of energy for our body, we need them to function in our daily lives.

As a professional Nutrition Coach, where I often see most people go wrong using the Keto diet is due to the fact that it is marketed as a “high-fat, adequate-protein, and low-carb diet”.

Therefore, they tend to think “Oh sweet I can eat lots of bacon, cheese and butter!”

Worse yet, often time folks will try to rid themselves of all carbs entirely.

This is dangerous to your health and will certainly send you in the opposite direction of your weight loss goals on an extended timeline.

The best way to approach the Keto Diet to see awesome, healthy and sustainable results would be to incorporate:

Healthy fats


Whole eggs

Nuts and seeds

Lean protein





Yellow squash




These are your “volume carbs” meaning you can have a lot of them and still maintain low in carbohydrates. These types of carbs provide your body with energy, and tons of micronutrients that your body needs.

So if you are currently giving Keto a shot, next time you are building your plate try making it look look something like:

½ plate of roasted zucchini and yellow squash

Seasoned chicken
