Off-season training is important. This time with their coach is spent building strength, speed, coordination, endurance and agility in preparation for the season ahead.

Children can improve strength by 30% to 50% after just 8 to 12 weeks of a well-designed strength training program.

But when the season rolls around it’s highly likely they are missing out on a very important part of their regimen.

Training with their strength and conditioning coach while in season is just as important as training in the off season – maybe even more so. But why?

Youth need to continue to train at least 2 times per week to maintain strength.

Working with their strength and conditioning coach during their season is crucial to ensure they are maintaining and repairing their muscles. Pausing their strength and conditioning will reduce their muscle leaving their bodies more susceptible to injury.

Their coach will adjust their daily regimen appropriately, but ceasing their training is one of the worst things they can do for their performance and their health.
